[Area-52] Playstyle Overhauls

Heroes! 

 

Area52 has received TONS of buffs and a handful of reworks to iconic Mystic Enchantments: Atonement, Unrelenting Wrath, Seething Flames, Words of Healing, and MANY more all get a major update enhancing their power level and improving their playstyles significantly.

 

The goal with these updates is to bring up the strength of builds that need it, and expand the ways you can play on Area 52!

[Area-52] Atonement

  • [Area-52] [Atonement] - Has been reworked: Dealing damage with Smite, Holy Fire, or Penance now triggers a heal on an ally. This healing does not scale with the damage dealt by these abilities but with healing power and Holy healing done modifiers.
  • [Area-52] [Atonement] - Dealing direct damage with Smite, Holy Fire, or Penance grants a buff that empowers your next Flash Heal, Prayer of Healing, and Greater Heal with 20% increased healing, critical strike chance, and a faster cast time. It can store up to 3 charges.

[Area-52] Unrelenting Wrath

  • [Area-52] [Unrelenting Wrath] - Damaging Hunter abilities now have a 100% chance to trigger, up from 50%. Charges for Unrelenting Wrath are now granted upon hitting 10 stacks, up from 5.
  • [Area-52] [Unrelenting Wrath] - Now reduces the cooldown of Frenzy Shot by 20 seconds, it previously fully reset its cooldown.
  • [Area-52] [Unrelenting Wrath] - The cooldown reduction effect for Frenzy Shot is now triggered by Beast Within, instead of from Unrelenting Wrath. This means that both Unrelenting Wrath and Bestial Wrath can trigger it.
  • [Area-52] [Unrelenting Wrath] - Now has a new mechanic: Your Kill Shots make your Tamed Beasts next attack deal additional Physical damage.
  • [Area-52] [Unrelenting Wrath] - Now has a new mechanic: Casting Frenzy Shot allows your next Kill Shot to be cast regardless of the target’s health. If Frenzy Shot damages a target below 20% health it resets the cooldown of Kill Shot.
  • [Area-52] [Unrelenting Wrath] - Now has a new mechanic: Triggering Unrelenting Wrath makes your Tamed Beast strike enemy targets within 8 yards, causing direct Physical damage, Physical damage over time, and increasing the damage taken from the Tamed Beast by 12% for 8 seconds.
  • [Area-52] [Unrelenting Wrath] - Now increases the damage of Frenzy Shot by 100%, and the damage of Kill Shot by 25%.

[Area-52] Seething Flames

  • [Area-52] [Seething Flames] - Now reduces the cooldown of Arcane Shot and Explosive Shot by 1 second.
  • [Area-52] [Seething Flames] - Increased the scaling of Seething Flames by 50%.
  • [Area-52] [Seething Flames] - Seething Flames now gains 1 base damage per level, previously it gained no further level scaling. This means that on level 70 its base damage is roughly 5 times as high.
  • [Area-52] [Seething Flames] - Triggering Seething Flames reduces the internal cooldown of Lock and Load by 1 second.
  • [Area-52] [Seething Flames] - Arcane Shot now deals additional Fire damage with Seething Flames equipped.
  • [Area-52] [Seething Flames] - Now has a new mechanic: Arcane Shot and Explosive Shot casts increase the damage of your next Chimera Shot by 20%. Stacking up to 5. Chimera Shot resets the cooldown of Arcane Shot and Explosive Shot, and causes 100% of the damage the target has taken by your Explosive Shot within the last 12 seconds as additional Fire damage, if used at max stacks.
     

[Area-52] New Epic Mystic Enchant: Neltharion's Legacy

  • [Area-52] [Neltharion's Legacy] - a new epic Mystic enchant that transforms your Shadowflame into a single target ranged variant.

[Area-52] Tools of War and Martial Crescendo

  • [Area-52] [Tools of War] - Duration has been increased from 8 seconds to 10.
  • [Area-52] [Tools of War] - Stacks have been lowered from 10 to 6.
  • [Area-52] [Tools of War] - Now increases your Physical damage by 4% per stack.
  • [Area-52] [Tools of War] - No longer triggers from procs and on next swing abilities and does not refresh at max stacks.
  • [Area-52] [Martial Crescendo] - The duration of Martial Crescendo has been increased to 8 seconds, up from 6.
  • [Area-52] [Martial Crescendo] - The stacks of Martial Crescendo have been reduced from 10 to 6.
  • [Area-52] [Martial Crescendo] - Now increase your attack speed by 9% per stack.
  • [Area-52] [Martial Crescendo] - No longer triggers from procs and on next swing abilities and does not refresh at max stacks.

[Area-52] Words of Healing

  • [Area-52] [Words of Healing] - Now has a new mechanic: Effective direct healing now grants you a stack of Premonition, reaching 9 stacks of premonition turns it into Clairvoyant. Reducing the cooldown of Power Word: Shield by 2 seconds and increasing its absorption by 50% for 5 seconds.

[Area-52] Buffs and QoL changes

[Area-52] Ice Lash

  • [Area-52] [Ice Lash] - Now has a new mechanic, Ice Crash: Consuming Fingers of Frost now has a 33% chance to reset the cooldown of Ice  Lash, and make your next cast of it deal 50% increased damage and hit up to 3 targets.
  • [Area-52] [Ice Lash] - Having Frostbrand in the off-hand now increases the weapon damage of Ice Lash by 75%, up from 50%.

[Area-52] Assuaging Shadows

  • [Area-52] [Assuaging Shadows] - The base damage and scaling of Last Gasp has been increased by 20%.
  • [Area-52] [Assuaging Shadows] - Shadow of Death’s base damage is now 20% of the damage of the triggering Ambush or Ravage, it was previously 16%.

[Area-52] Deadly Bite

  • [Area-52] [Deadly Bite] - Carving Strikes now makes Deadly Bite increase the damage taken from the casters Glaive Toss by 20% per stack, up from 17% per stack.
  • [Area-52] [Deadly Bite] - Deadly Bite now increases the damage taken from the casters Raptor Strike and Savage Blade by 20% per stack, up from 17% per stack.
  • [Area-52] [Deadly Bite] - Increased the base damage and scaling of Deadly Bite by 30%.
  • [Area-52] [Deadly Bite] - Deadly Instinct now lasts for 12 seconds, up from 10 seconds.
  • [Area-52] [Deadly Bite] - Savage Blade now has 110% weapon damage baseline, down from 130%. It now gains 2% weapon damage per level. Previously it granted 1% per level. This adds up to 250% at level 70, it was previously 200% at level 70.

[Area-52] Fel Corruption

  • [Area-52] [Fel Corruption] - Increased the weapon damage of Felblade to 240%, up from 230%.
  • [Area-52] [Fel Corruption] - Increased the weapon damage of Fel Cleave to 120%, up from 115%.
  • [Area-52] [Fel Corruption] - Increased the base damage and scaling of Fel Flame Weapon by 8%.

[Area-52] Son of Gruul

  • [Area 52] [Son of Gruul] - Increased the base damage and scaling of Ground Slam by 5%.
  • [Area 52] [Son of Gruul] - Increased the weapon damage of Hateful Strike to 110%, up from 100%.
  • [Area 52] [Son of Gruul] - Increased the weapon damage of Upheaval to 300%, up from 290%.
  • [Area 52] [Son of Gruul] - Increased the base damage and scaling of Shatter by 10%.

[Area-52] Hoplite

  • [Area 52] [Hoplite] - Increased the base damage and scaling of Shield Strike by 20%
  • [Area 52] [Hoplite] - Increased the base damage and scaling of Javelin by 20%.
  • [Area 52] [Hoplite] - Skewered now increases the damage dealt by your next Colossus Smash by 20% per stack.
  • [Area 52] [Hoplite] - Phalanx Strike now also increases the damage dealt by Shield Strike by 10% per stack.

[Area-52] Eldritch Knight

  • [Area 52] [Eldritch Knight] - Triggering Eldritch Weapon now lowers the cooldown of Eldritch Wrath by 3 seconds.
  • [Area 52] [Eldritch Knight] - Increased the damage and scaling of Eldritch Explosion by 50%.
  • [Area 52] [Eldritch Knight] - Eldritch Knight now reduces all damage taken by 8%.
  • [Area 52] [Eldritch Knight] - Eldritch Knight now restores 8% of your missing mana when you use a melee ability. 
  • [Area 52] [Eldritch Knight] - Casting Melee abilities while Eldritch Knight is active grants a stack of Anomaly. Upon reaching 20 stacks you are empowered by an Eldritch Horror that reduces your damage taken by 12%, increases your attack speed by 30% and causes your melee attacks to deal additional Spellshadow damage and restore 5% of your maximum mana.

[Area-52] Swashbuckler: Bloodsail Captain

  • [Area 52] [Swashbuckler: Bloodsail Captain] - Hammer the Gap now deals 140% weapon damage.
  • [Area 52] [Swashbuckler: Bloodsail Captain] - Blurred Blade now reduces all damage taken by 8%.
  • [Area 52] [Swashbuckler: Bloodsail Captain] - Captain’s Resolve now converts 50% of your Agility into Parry Rating and increases your armor contributions from armor by 50%.

[Area-52] Relentless

  • [Area-52] [Relentless] - Casting Shield Block now grants 5 combo points.
  • [Area-52] [Relentless] - Eviscerate now has a 20% chance per combo point to reduce the cooldown of Shield Block by 2 seconds.

[Area-52] Thermal Void

  • [Area-52] [Thermal Void] - Arctic Bulwark now increases the chance to trigger Fingers of Frost by 18%, up from 15%.
  • [Area-52] [Thermal Void] - Arctic Bulwark now generates 6% max mana, up from 4%.
  • [Area-52] [Thermal Void] - Snowstorm now lasts for 12 seconds, up from 10. 
  • [Area-52] [Thermal Void] - Increased the base damage and scaling of Snowstorm by 10%.
  • [Area-52] [Thermal Void] - Frost Blast now reduces the cooldown of Ice Barrier by 4 seconds, up from 3.
  • [Area-52] [Thermal Void] - Frost Blast now has a 5-second cooldown, down from 6.

[Area-52] Plague Bearer

  • [Area-52] [Plague Bearer] - Now increases Bloodthirst damage by 30%, and while affected by Berserk it makes Bloodthirst hit 2 additional targets.
  • [Area-52] [Plague Bearer] - Now makes Mangle reset the cooldown of Bloodthirst, in addition to applying Rabies.
  • [Area-52] [Plague Bearer] - Rabies now increases damage taken from the caster by 10%, previously it was 5% and only affected Bear abilities.
  • [Area-52] [Plague Bearer] - Now has a new mechanic: Dealing damage with Infected Blood grants a stack of Blightheart, upon reaching 30 stacks of Blightheart it can be consumed by casting Faerie Fire. Increasing healing taken by 20%, reducing magic damage taken by 8%, and causing Plague damage in an 8-yard area around the caster for 12 seconds. Additional Blightheart stacks cannot be obtained while the consumption effect is active.

[Area-52] Warden of Demonreach

  • [Area-52] [Warden of Demonreach] - Now has a 30% chance to trigger Duality of Winter and Summer, prior to this it had a 20% chance. Additionally, the internal cooldown of triggering Duality of Winter and Summer has been reduced to 3 seconds, it was previously 4 seconds.
  • [Area-52] [Warden of Demonreach] - Heart of Winter and Soul Powered Flames now reduce the cast time of Arctis and Fuego by 60%, up from 40%.
  • [Area-52] [Warden of Demonreach] - Reduced the damage falloff on additional targets for Unleashed Arctis and Unleashed Fuego by 33%.
  • [Area-52] [Warden of Demonreach] - Unleashed Arctis and Fuego are now triggered on cast, instead of on hit. This means you can combo things with Starborn immediately instead of having to delay its cast to properly benefit from it.

[Area-52] [Bloodmage’s Beast Shot]

  • [Area-52] [Bloodmage’s Beast Shot] - Now deals 180% weapon damage, up from 120%.
  • [Area-52] [Bloodmage’s Beast Shot] - The base damage and scaling of the damage over time effect of Beast Shot has been increased by 33%.
  • [Area-52] [Bloodmage’s Beast Shot] - The cooldown reduction for Kill Command and Frenzy Shot has been increased to 3 seconds, up from 1 second.

[Area-52] [Glacial Light]

  • [Area-52] [Glacial Light] - Now reduces the cooldown of Icy Veins by 2 seconds, up from 1.
  • [Area-52] [Glacial Light] - The base damage and scaling of Glacial Light has been increased by 15%.

[Area-52] [Dragon Warrior]

  • [Area-52] [Dragon Warrior] - Draconic Might now increases Physical damage by 20%, up from 18%.
  • [Area-52] [Dragon Warrior] - Increased the base damage of Dragon Roar by 100%.

[Area-52] [Heavyweight]

  • [Area-52] [Heavyweight] - Heavyweight now increases physical damage done by 4% per stack. Up from 3%.
  • [Area-52] [Heavyweight] - Fixed a bug where getting Ready to strike would decrease your physical damage done bonus by 10%. This was due to the player losing the Heavyweight buff upon gaining the fifth stack.

[Area-52] [Zandalari Windreaver]

  • [Area-52] [Zandalari Windreaver] - The Weapon damage of Loa's Assault has been increased to 180%, up from 160%.
  • [Area-52] [Zandalari Windreaver] - Zandalari Glaive now deals 380% weapon damage, up from 360%.

[Area-52] [Battle Fervor]

  • [Area-52] [Battle Fervor] - Battle Charge has been increased to 350% weapon damage, up from 250%.
  • [Area-52] [Battle Fervor] - Fixed a bug preventing Battle Charge from critically striking.

[Area-52] [Evoker]

  • [Area-52] [Evoker] - Evoker now increases the damage of all Mage spells by 4% per stack, it still increases the damage of Fireball by a total of 10% per stack. It no longer has a specific increase for Arcane Missiles, this is contained within the general damage increase.
  • [Area-52] [Evoker] - Evoker now increases the critical strike chance of all Mage spells by 4%, previously it just increased the critical strike chance of Arcane Missiles and Fireball.

[Area-52] [Fury of the Titans]

  • [Area-52] [Fury of the Titans] - Warrior abilities that consume Titanic Power now grant 1 combo point.
  • [Area-52] [Fury of the Titans] - Titanic Power now increases the damage of your next Warrior ability by 25% per stack, up from 20%.

[Area-52] [Ol’ Bloodsurge]

  • [Area-52] [Ol’ Bloodsurge] - Surge of Blood now increases the damage of your next Hunter or Warrior ability by 20%, up from 10%.
  • [Area-52] [Ol’ Bloodsurge] - Now has a 4-second internal cooldown, down from 6 seconds.

[Area-52] [Prophet of Wrath]

  • [Area-52] [Prophet of Wrath] - Divine Wrath now stacks up to 5 times, up from 3.
  • [Area-52] [Prophet of Wrath] - Divine Wrath now increases the damage of your next Smite or Holy Fire by 30% per stack, up from 25%.

[Area-52] [Overheating]

  • [Area-52] [Overheating] - Increased the weapon damage and scaling of Overheating by 50%.
  • [Area-52] [Overheating] - Overheating now scales with melee ability modifiers. 
  • [Area-52] [Overheating] - Overheating is now a buff and stacks up to 5 times. Changed from 3 stacks of debuff.

[Area-52] [Overloaded Froststorm]

  • [Area-52] [Overloaded Froststorm] - Overloaded Mind now causes your Nature and Frost Spells to apply Maelstrom to the target dealing 20% of the damage dealt as Froststorm damage.
  • [Area-52] [Overloaded Froststorm] - Increased the base damage and scaling of Overloaded Froststorm by 50%.

[Area-52] [Aimed Explosive Shot]

  • [Area-52] [Aimed Explosive Shot] - Increased the base damage and scaling of Aimed Explosive Shot by 20%.
  • [Area-52] [Aimed Explosive Shot] - Now increases the damage taken from the caster’s Explosive Shot, Immolation Trap and Explosive Trap by 20%.

[Area-52] [Purification By Light]

  • [Area-52] [Purification By Light] - Both damaging effects of Purification By Light has had its base damage and scaling increased by 50%.
  • [Area-52] [Purification By Light] - Being struck by the damaging effects of Purification By Light now increases Holy damage taken from the caster by 8% for 8 seconds.
  • [Area-52] [Purification By Light] - Now displays its proc chance in the tooltip.

[Area-52] [Amal’thazad’s Curse]

  • [Area-52] [Amal’thazad’s Curse] - Each stack on the caster now also increases critical strike damage by 2%.
  • [Area-52] [Amal’thazad’s Curse] - Increased the base damage and scaling of Amal’thazad’s Malediction by 50%.
  • [Area-52] [Amal’thazad’s Curse] - Can now trigger from periodic effects.

[Area-52] [Abiding Fel Energy]

  • [Area-52] [Abiding Fel Energy] - The stacks from Abiding Fel Energy have been renamed to Fel Energy, and can now be obtained from all direct damaging spells and abilities, Fire is no longer excluded.
  • [Area-52] [Abiding Fel Energy] - Unleash Fel Energy has been renamed to Abiding Fel Energy, it is now automatically triggered upon reaching 5 stacks. The spell Unleash Fel Energy is no longer taught to the player when you have the Abiding Fel Energy Mystic Enchantment active.
  • [Area-52] [Abiding Fel Energy] - Increased the base damage and scaling of Unleash Fel Energy by 100%.

[Area-52] [Fel Strike]

  • [Area-52] [Fel Strike] - Fel Skies stacks are now granted on cast, stacks were previously generated on hit.
  • [Area-52] [Fel Strike] - Fel Strike charges are now granted upon reaching 4 stacks of Fel Skies, down from 5.
  • [Area-52] [Fel Strike] - Increased the chance to grant Fel Skies stacks to 100%, up from 40%.
  • [Area-52] [Fel Strike] - Unleash Fel Strike can now have up to 4 charges, up from 1.
  • [Area-52] [Fel Strike] - Increased the base damage and scaling of Fel Strike by 30%.

[Area-52] [Felborne]

  • [Area-52] [Felborne] - Spells and abilities now grant the same type of stacks, meaning you’re no longer forced to utilize both spells and abilities.
  • [Area-52] [Felborne] - Increased the base damage and scaling of Fel Meteor by 100%.
  • [Area-52] [Felborne] - Fel Meteor now also increases the damage taken from the caster on struck targets by 5%.

[Area-52] [Time Warp]

  • [Area-52] [Time Warp] - Increased the duration of Time Distortion to 8 seconds, up from 6 seconds.
  • [Area-52] [Time Warp] - Time Distortion now increases spell damage, spell haste, and spell critical strike chance by 8%, up from 5%.

[Area-52] [Flame On!]

  • [Area-52] [Flame On!] - Flame On! Stacks now also increase the critical strike damage of Fire Blast and Meteor by 15% per stack.
  • [Area-52] [Flame On!] - Using Fire Blast at 3 stacks now empowers the ignite it triggers, increasing its damage transfer by 100%. This requires Rank 5 Ignite.

[Area-52] [Ice Barrage]

  • [Area-52] [Elune] - Increased the damage and scaling of Icicles by 10%.
  • [Area-52] [Ice Barrage] - Increased the damage and scaling of Frostflame Shock by 10%.
  • [Area-52] [Ice Barrage] - Frostflame Shocks cast time has been reduced from 2 seconds to 1.5 seconds.

[Area-52] [Molten Earth] 

  • [Area-52] [Molten Earth] - Super Hot now increases the damage of Lava Lash by 50%.
  • [Area-52] [Molten Earth] - Consuming Super Hot now grants Super Heated, increasing the damage dealt by your next Mage or Shaman Fire spell by 25%.

[Area-52] [Righteous Zealot] 

  • [Area-52] [Righteous Zealot] - Increased the base damage and scaling of Righteous Zealot by 100%.
  • [Area-52] [Righteous Zealot] - Reduced the internal cooldown of Righteous Zealot to 3 seconds, down from 4.
  • [Area-52] [Righteous Zealot] - Now displays its proc chance in the tooltip. It’s 40%.

[Area-52] [Spell Slinger] [Unbounded Spell Slinger]

  • [Area-52] [Spell Slinger] - Spell Slingers damage now scales with Arcane Barrage damage modifiers.
  • [Area-52] [Spell Slinger] - Now lists the chance to trigger the Clearcasting effect, it's 33%.
  • [Area-52] [Spell Slinger] - Now has a 6-second internal cooldown, down from 8 seconds.
  • [Area-52] [Unbounded Spell Slinger] - Unbounded Spell Slinger’s damage now scales with Arcane Explosion damage modifiers.
  • [Area-52] [Unbounded Spell Slinger] - Now lists the chance to trigger the Clearcasting effect, it's 33%.

[Area-52] [Frost Lich]

  • [Area-52] [Frost Lich] - Now slows the target by 30%, down from 50%.
  • [Area-52] [Frost Lich] - Increased the base damage and scaling of Bone Chill by 100%.
  • [Area-52] [Frost Lich] - Now has a 12-second internal cooldown, up from 9 seconds.
  • [Area-52] [Frost Lich] - Now also increases the damage taken from the caster’s Deep Freeze and Ice Lance by 50%.
  • [Area-52] [Frost Lich] - Now lasts 6 seconds, up from 4 seconds.
  • [Area-52] [Frost Lich] - Now grants Fingers of Frost upon triggering Frost Lich, this requires rank 2 of Fingers of Frost to be known.

[Area-52] [Double Down]

  • [Area-52] [Double Down] - Now works with Titan’s Grip.
  • [Area-52] [Double Down] - No longer stops Sinister Strike from generating Combo Points.
  • [Area-52] [Double Down] - Now increases the damage of your Eviscerate by 100%.

[Area-52] [Warcry]

  • [Area-52] [Warcry] - Can now trigger from Warbanners and Warrior Shouts, triggering Battle Fatigue from a Warbanner or Warrior Shout, except for Warcry triggers a 30-second internal cooldown.
  • [Area-52] [Warcry] - Now increases Physical damage taken from the caster by 12%, up from 10%.
  • [Area-52] [Warcry] - Now displays the duration of Battle Fatigue.

  • [Area-52] [Hydromancer] - Now has a new mechanic: Consuming Fingers of Frost now grants Charged Ice, increasing the damage of your Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning against monsters by 60% for 12 seconds. 
  • [Area-52] [Controlled Burn] - Now increases the duration of Immolate by 3 seconds.
  • [Area-52] [Elune] - Soul Link can now be cast while shapeshifted, this means it won’t take you out of Tree, Cat, or Bear Form.
  • [Area-52] [Elune] - Increased the scaling of Chaos Bolt by 15%.
  • [Area-52] [Consumed by Fire] - The proc chance of Gul’dan’s Chosen has been increased to 18%, up from 15%.
  • [Area-52] [Holy Supernova] - No longer has an internal cooldown, it can still only trigger once per spell cast.
  • [Area-52] [Elune] [Lock and Load] - The internal cooldown of Lock and Load is now visible to the caster as a debuff aura.
  • [Area-52] [Soul of the Warden] - The Out of Knives effect now increases the energy cost of Fan of Knives by 2 per stack, down from 4 energy per stack.
  • [Area-52] [Tree of Wrath] - Now removes the cast time of Lightning Bolt, but grants it a 6-second cooldown between casts.
  • [Area-52] [Charged Tides] - The tooltip of Charged Tide has been updated to make its functions clearer. It has not changed functionally.
  • [Area-52] [Divine Purpose] - Healing and damage chains now function differently: damaging Penance heals nearby targets, while healing Penance damages them. The range of these effects has been increased from 12 yards to 20 yards.
  • [Area-52] [Repentant Reconciliation] - The Circle of Healing from Repentant Reconciliation now has a 20-yard range, up from 15 yards.
  • [Area-52] [Elune] [Mana-Forged Barrier] - The damage penalty of Mana-Forged Barrier has been reduced from 40% to 30%.
  • [Area-52] [Blademaster] - After Parrying an attack or critically striking with a melee ability grants you a stack of Study the Blade, upon reaching 3 stacks you gain Blademaster.
  • [Area-52] [Festering Wound] - Now has a new mechanic: Dispatch deals 30% increased damage,  and causes 200% of its damage as Nature damage over 8 seconds. This damage is duplicated onto other targets affected by Crimson Tempest or Rupture within 10 yards.
  • [Area-52] [Titanic Mutilate] - Now increases Bloodthirst damage by 12% per rank, up from 10%.
  • [Area-52] [Raging Momentum] - The cooldown effect of Raging Momentum has been increased to 4 seconds, up from 3.
  • [Area-52] [Lava Sweep] - Eruption now also increases the critical strike damage bonus of Fire Blast and Pyroblast by 15% per stack, this is in addition to the critical strike chance increase it currently has.
  • [Area-52] [Disciple of Arugal] - Now makes Curse of Agony benefit from haste.
