Season 8 ends on December 5th: all characters will merge into Area 52 in anticipation of the release of Black Temple in January.

This article covers details about the merge along with a quick recap of Season 8 and how Classless is moving forward.

The Merge

Season 8 characters merge into Area 52 on December 5th. Everything you have will transfer with you: your bank, your items, your levels and specs, etc. You won’t lose anything in the merge. Any vanity collection items will merge with your Area 52 collection. Characters convert to Free-Pick heroes once they arrive on Area 52!

• Merge on December 5th
• Several hours of downtime with rolling restarts to correct any issues with the merge
• On December 6th, there will be maintenance and rolling restarts to do a core merge bringing with it pre-patch updates in preparation for what comes next.
• Everything comes with you
  • Inventory
  • All of your characters
  • Mail
  • Auctions
  • Banks
  • etc
• Draft mode deactivated and Heroes become Free Pick
• If there are duplicate character names you will receive a character rename during the merge.
• If your character list exceeds the maximum number of characters, some may be deactivated and will not display on the list. You can deactivate and activate characters on the site. 
• All vanity items sync

What Comes Next

Next Season’s focus is returning to classless: removing restrictions, opening things back up, and prioritizing classless over cross-class. This will be paired with brand new content for you to challenge with your classless hero. 

This comes alongside releasing raid content faster and creating new content: New World Bosses, Items, Dungeons, Raid Bosses, completely new forms of PvE, new battlegrounds are all on the table.

The next season shatters barriers, so you can create and discover your build, and with it, face brand new challenges.

As Season 8 concludes, Heroes merge into Area 52 to continue their adventure and face down Illidan in Black Temple. Tackle the most iconic raid in TBC, customized with new mechanics and new dangers for you to overcome. As you struggle to overcome Illidan’s forces, you may be in for your most brutal challenge yet. Gather your courage and confront the Lord of Outland!
