Heroes!

As Season 8 Chapter 3 goes live, the brand new Slot-Based Mystic Enchanting System arrives on both Thrall and Area 52. This article functions as a sort of FAQ to cover everything you need to know about the new system. Leap into Outland prepared!

Slot Based Mystic Enchants

The RE Mystic Enchantments are no longer gear-bound: you now have an Enchantment Window that you can place enchantments on (similar to glyphs). Once you do, they’re always active until you switch them.

This unbinds the power of Mystic Enchantments from gear, removing friction and allowing enchantments to benefit you more often with less hassle.

The RE is no longer on your gear.

Why the Change?

Although having Mystic Enchantments attached to gear was thematic, it carried a lot of awkward downsides:

  • You had to keep enchanting each new piece of gear you got, which was annoying
  • 2h Weapon users were missing a crucial RE slot
  • If you wanted to play a certain build while prestiging, you had to carry around a dozen different gear sets with all the specific enchants you needed
    • Inconvenient
  • If you got a gear upgrade but the piece had an epic or legendary enchantment on it, you couldn’t use it because it would disable your whole build
    • Finding a good piece of gear wasn’t always immediately beneficial, which felt bad
  • Many heroes were hesitant to enchant gear because they felt it might get replaced too quickly
    • That meant there was friction to start playing the way you want

What’s better now?

The new system removes a lot of friction from using Mystic Enchantments while keeping the system generally the same.

  • You never have to worry about re-enchanting gear
  • You can play the build you want as soon as you get the enchantments
  • You can more easily roll, discover, and extract enchantments straight from the altar UI

Additionally, separating Mystic Enchantments from gear comes with a lot of benefits to the pacing and feel of Ascension:

  • Finding a better piece of equipment is now an immediate upgrade
    • No more waiting to enchant it to equip it
  • You can slot Enchantments and Prestige for awesome full-powered prestige runs
    • Feels great with new Hardcore Trials and Heirlooms
  • You can leave Build Draft any time and keep the enchantments it gives you
    • Giving you more freedom to customize your build
  • Each time you use a Tome of Specialization, you get another Enchantment Preset

Mystic Scroll Recovery

  • All gear you had has been converted into scrolls and is now available on the Mystic Enchant Recovery UI.

  • You can access this at Ameer Greatluck.

FAQ

Here’s some common questions people have asked:

What can I do without a Mystic Altar?

You can apply mystic enchanting scrolls and remove enchants from slots without an altar

What can I only do with a Mystic Altar?

  • Reforge
  • Apply enchants from your collection
  • and create mystic scrolls.

How do I get Mystic Enchantments now?

  • You can still get Mystic Enchantments by using Mystic Runes, which will roll them the same as before.
  • Additionally, ALL Epic and Legendary enchantments now have additional ways to get them out in the world. There are now mysterious objects hidden throughout the world that unlock enchantments, such as hidden clickable objects and even scripted events. Also, there are dozens of new Rare monsters that drop specific epic and legendary enchantments.

  • Finally, Rare and Uncommon enchantments now have a higher chance to drop from monsters that use those spells, meaning you can find Frostbolt enchantments from Ice Harpies, Shadowbolt enchantments from cultists and skeletons, and so on.

How do I extract Mystic Enchantments now?

  • Same as before: only now you extract them from Scrolls, not gear. It’s functionally no different.

Can I have multiple Enchantment Sets?

  • Yes. Every time you use a Tome of Specialization, you’ll unlock an enchanting preset, letting you save and store an entire enchantment set for later use. When using enchantment presets, you won’t spend any Orbs, allowing you to use enchantment sets to quickly swap specializations, archetypes, and playstyles.
  • You can also grab Enchantment Presets by themselves for gold off the Auction House.

Can I still trade or sell Enchantments?

  • Yes. You can either get the enchantment as a scroll off of a monster in the open world, or roll a Mystic Scroll on the altar using Mystic Runes. This functions exactly the same as how it used to, except there’s no gear. Obtain Untarnished Mystic Scrolls right from the altar.

  • You can also apply a collection enchantment to an Untarnished Mystic Scroll you own, allowing you to sell and trade extracted enchantments.
