Balancing Ascension is a colossal task; we’re sure that doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone.
One of the largest problems with balancing this complex system is that it’s really hard to make changes to anything without the risk of demolishing people’s builds, playstyles and progress. Believe it or not, we don’t actually like making tweaks that invalidate a player’s hard work. We realize the countless hours you all put into creating your ideal hero, and we never, ever want to waste that. However, we do want to be in a position where we can balance the game faster, especially concerning Random Enchantments.
RE’s are an area of Ascension where balance and changes occasionally need to come more often--whether that is buffing an RE that is underperforming, or nerfing an RE that is overperforming. That means there will be times when we absolutely need to alter an RE. However, we want to do that without causing irreparable damage to our players. So, here’s the solution:
Introducing the Random Enchantment Exchange System.
See that “Exchange Enchant” button? For a limited but significant period of time after we alter an RE, you’ll be able to hit that button to swap it out with any different RE of equal or lesser value. For free. That means swapping blue for blue, blue for green, or orange for anything else. This will allow us to make necessary, better, and faster balance changes without invalidating the hard work that players put into building their characters.
Additionally with this update, we’ll be implementing a slew of RE fixes and changes from RE’s that have been on our bug tracker. Keep an eye open for the full changelog coming soon.
We hope this exchange system takes a bit of the anxiety away from balance changes, heroes. Now, if you don’t like a change we make to your favorite RE, you can swap it out and try something new for no cost.
