Laughing Skull Drop Rates Buffed TREMENDOUSLY

Laughing Skull is both our most popular and most peculiar realm. We released it as experimental, and we’ve been keeping an incredibly close eye on how that experiment has been going. Many of our staff play on Laughing Skull, and we comb it for player feedback almost nonstop. Combined with our own observations on what needs to be done, we’re constantly figuring out ways to better mold High-Risk PvP into the exciting, dynamic activity we want it to be. The more we observe Laughing Skull, the more we learn just what we can tweak to get closer to that dream.
Speaking of that dream, we’ve got a good feeling about this one: Laughing Skull is receiving an enormous loot overhaul.
Here’s what’s changing:
Epic and Rare Loot Drops in the World Increased MASSIVELY
Part of the fear of leaving a city is that you’ll lose your hard-earned gear. Additionally, newer players and players who have lost their gear need a method to farm up the equipment they need--either by obtaining a piece they can use, or by obtaining a piece that they can sell so that they can buy a piece they can use. By increasing the rate at which Epic and Rare items drop out in the world, our goal is to give players a real reason to go out and farm. We want the drop rate to be so alluring that people can’t help but roll the dice and see what they can get their hands on. Then, if people are out farming, it nearly guarantees that there are people out in the world to PvP with--whether you’re hunting them, or just accidentally run into them at a farm spot. Either way, expect a LOT more epics and rare items in your pockets--their drop rate has been increased exponentially.
Balanced the Ratio of World-Blues-to-Dungeon-Blues on Mobs in the World
Standard world blue drops were dropping WAY more often than dungeon blues; so much so that players were seeing the same blues drop off mobs over and over again. We’ve tweaked the numbers to increase dungeon blue drops in relation to their world blue counterparts, and the result is that you should see an incredible increase in the variety of blues you aquire.
Mystic Shard World Drop Rate Increased by 100%
We’re increasing the drop rate of Mystic Rune Shards and Mystic Orb Shards out in the world by 100%. Our goal with this is to provide some boosts to power independent of the gear you find. With increased Mystic Shards, even losing a few pieces of gear might be worth the power gained by RE’s you find and apply.
Added Loot from Onyxia and Zul’gurub.
Onyxia loot and a few pieces of ZG gear weren’t on the world-loot template. Those have been added, so good luck getting your tier 2 helms!
Our goal is to get Laughing Skull to a point where people actively seek out world PvP--where the potential gains outweigh the potential loss. For that reason, we’re trying with this overhaul to add power not only in gear, but in random enchantments as well. Now, if you risk going out hunting, you’ll be able to pick up more gear and shards from players than ever before. In addition, farming mobs yields MUCH more reward with increased epics and varied blues. We hope this gives people a reason to go out into the world to farm, and also a reason to go out and hunt.
