Full Mythic+ System for Vanilla and Beyond
Heroes,
The Mythic+ System arrives on Season 7!
Mythic+ has been faithfully recreated (and upgraded) on Ascension to provide Heroes with an ever expanding level of difficulty and itemization, letting you tackle and explore your favorite Vanilla dungeons in an all new way. This system is huge, and its ultimate goal is to transcend all Ascension expansions, offering all Heroes challenging 5-man content to tackle with friends.
The System
The Mythic+ system is an enormous undertaking. Releasing with ten levels of difficulty, Heroes will be able to upgrade their keystone, take down enemies, and score Mythic-tier loot from tiers 1-10. Additionally, the Mythic+ system on Ascension will not reset. Rather than serving as a raid catchup mechanic, Mythic+ is designed to exist alongside raids. It will increase by 10 tiers each time a new raid tier releases. This first tier is as follows:
Mythic September Release
- Tiers 1-10 Unlocked
- Upgrade your Keystone to access higher tiers
- Affixes occur at levels 2, 4, 7, and 10
Additionally, for Heroes unaware: you can obtain the Keystone required for Mythic+ by killing the last boss of a Mythic 0 Dungeon. Keep in mind that you can only have one Keystone at any time, and you can upgrade it by completing Mythic+ Dungeons within their time limit.
The Future of Mythic+
The Mythic+ system is huge, and bringing it to the Vanilla environment has never been done before. As such, the team is committed to dedicated and diligent iteration. It won’t be perfect from the start. We’ll be integrating feedback and making improvements on the system now and into the future. The overall goal is to provide heroes with an engaging, dynamic, and rewarding challenge that they can enjoy throughout Vanilla and into future expansions.
Future Mechanics
As the system develops, Heroes can look forward to an ever-expanding roster of affixes and other challenges. We expect the system to eventually feature several dozen total affixes, and these will continue to develop as the system improves. Additionally, alongside each raid release the available levels of Mythic+ will increase by 10:
- Molten Core
- Levels 1-10
- Blackwing Lair
- Levels 11-20
- Ahn’qiraj
- Levels 21-30
- Naxxramas
- Levels 31-40
Note: The system is planned to continue into TBC
As the system expands, it will explore various challenges to keep Heroes on their toes:
Boons:
Weekly buffs for Heroes to increase their power and change the way they are able to confront Mythic+ Dungeons
Champions:
Empowered monsters that roam through dungeons: these creatures are found in packs of normal monsters, and can have their own affixes and special abilities. Heroes will find Champions in higher level Mythic+ dungeons, and these powerful creatures serve as one more challenge to overcome.
Environmental Affixes
Monsters aren’t the only danger in Mythic+ dungeons: environmental effects can ravage your group if you aren’t careful, sending tornadoes, lava, and storms hurling through the dungeon.
Loot and Rewards
When completing a Mythic+ dungeon, each Hero receives their own personal Loot Chest!
When you complete a Mythic+ dungeon, you’re rewarded with a personal loot chest that you have some control over: Heroes can choose between Strength, Agility, Intelligence, Spirit, or Miscellaneous to be rewarded with gear of that type.
Important:
Mythic+ Loot is categorized by each item’s Primary Stat. Not YOUR primary stat, but the HIGHEST STAT on the item. For example, if you’re looking to get a Band of the Ogre King out of your loot box, you’ll notice it’s got more Strength than any other stat. This heavily influences the items' weight into the Strength category.
That means you have a chance to get it by choosing the Strength reward from your loot box. Though you can never guarantee an item, this makes sure that heroes looking for particular stats can influence their Mythic+ rewards. Choose a stat, and you will get an item that has the selected stat as its biggest stat or is heavily influenced by its main stat.
Additionally, if the item you’re looking for has no stats on it, you’ll want to choose Miscellaneous. This is where items that only have secondary stats like Hit, Spell Power, Attack Power, and the like go.
Heroes DO have a weekly loot cap--every week, you can claim gear from up to 25 loot boxes! Additionally, the loot contained within these boxes can be from ANY dungeon, so you don’t have to complete SPECIFIC dungeons to have a chance to get meaningful upgrades. This ALSO means that bosses that were previously only summonable by a bunch of pre-quests and materials will be able to get items they haven’t seen in Mythic and Heroic Dungeons.
Finally, Heroes can also choose Mystic Orbs and Mystic Runes from their Loot Box at any time or if they exceed the weekly cap, and these rewards do not count towards the Weekly cap. Use these to get some spoils when you’re helping other Heroes catch up!
Enjoy the depths of Mythic+, Heroes!
