Heroes!
Starting fresh on Ascension can be tough: there’s a LOT to learn, and a lot more to discover. From uncovering the changes to the spells and talents you love to mastering Mystic Enchantments, High Risk, Treasure Hunter, different Challenge Modes--you get the idea. Trying to master it all right out the gate is a lot to ask, which is why Heroes who are new to Ascension often ask for aid from veteran players. Using world chat, whispers, or by joining a guild, newer players tend to seek out established Heroes to gain knowledge and insight into the game and how to master it. To aid in this process, Ascension is releasing a Mentor System!
Mentor System
The Mentor System is a new Ascension Feature that will allow new Heroes to quickly find veterans who are willing to teach them about the game. It works like this:
- Heroes who are interested in helping new players can complete a series of challenges to become a Mentor. Becoming a mentor will place a green flag above your character’s head, marking you as a veteran who is willing to answer questions, provide help, and generally aid fledgling adventurers. Only new Heroes will be able to see the flag, allowing you to be quickly identifiable by those who need help!
- Meanwhile, Heroes who are new to Ascension will receive a baby murloc symbol above their head, marking them as fresh adventurers who might need a helping hand. Only Mentors can see this icon: so Heroes who have decided they’re willing to help out can find newer Heroes in a crowd and offer their advice.
The Mentor System allows newer Heroes to quickly find veterans who are willing to help them learn Ascension’s systems. Similarly, it allows veteran Heroes who want to help new players to spot them easily and offer what knowledge they can.
Requirements
Not everyone can become a Mentor. In order to do so, you’ll need to show some dedication and a willingness to help out new Heroes by completing the following achievements:
- Completed 1 Raid Encounter
- Completed 1 Game Mode
- Reforged 100 Mystic Enchants
- Completed 5 Callboard Quests
Heroes who want to become a mentor can ask a guard for directions to the NPC located in Stormwind, Orgrimmar, or Shattrath City. Additionally, the above criteria can be completed across multiple characters--meaning you can complete a raid on one Hero and reforge 100 mystic enchantments on another, and still unlock the Mentor Status.
The goal of the Mentor System is to match up new adventurers with Veteran Heroes who are willing to show them the ropes, answer questions, and get them into the game! We’ll be keeping an eye on the system to make sure it does just that!
