A Badge of Honor
Ascension PvE Badge System
Heroes!
You step again into the Molten Core. The sweltering heat of boiling rock and magma sears your skin, your armor searing in the heat. Blow by blow you strike down the monsters in your path, motivated by the promise of treasure from the Firelord’s fall. You take down his minions, douse the smouldering runes, and confront Ragnaros in his lair.
He falls, and your raid is victorious. The sword you have been searching for drops from his corpse…
...and another Hero takes it from you. Yet you do not despair.
As you step up to the corpse of the Firelord, you and every Hero beside you loots a pair of [Raider’s Commendation]s, powerful new currency coveted by Romus the Redeemer--a new merchant found in capital cities. You’ve gathered these tokens from every raid boss you’ve slain, and you’ve amassed a small collection. The raid concludes, and you teleport to your capital. You rush through the streets.
You find Romus in your capital and hold up your commendations. In return, he shows you a plethora of treasure--wonders found from every Raid you’ve conquered, from Zul’gurub to Blackwing Lair.
You find your sword and make the trade.
Welcome to the Ascension Badge System!
The Badge System is a new feature on Ascension. With its release, you’ll be able to find and collect [Raider’s Commendation]s from bosses you defeat in raids. This new currency will allow you to purchase raid gear from gear from raids you’ve previously cleared. Use commondations to purchase the exact gear you need from bosses!
Here’s how it works:
Heroes can now find a new face in their capital cities: Romus the Redeemer.
Speaking to Romus will prompt him to show you the gear you can purchase from Raids you’ve unlocked. To see the gear, you’ll need to have cleared that raid. Otherwise, the option will appear locked. Heroes will be able to purchase gear up to one raid before the currently released one. If Blackwing Lair is open, you’ll be able to browse and purchase gear from Zul’gurub, Onyxia, and Molten Core, for example. Additionally, the gear is organized by slot, so if you know you need Jin’do’s Bag of Whammies, you can navigate directly to Zul’gurub Offhands--provided, of course, that you’ve cleared Zul’gurub.
Once you find the item you’re searching for, if you have the required number of commendations, you’ll be able to purchase it.
Raid Bosses now drop 2 Raider’s Commendations for the entire raid when slain. Manage to bring down Magmadar? Two commendations. Take down Jin’do the other day? Two commendations. Finally manage to slay Nefarian? The whole raid can revel in two delightful commendations. The more you collect, the stronger the pieces of gear you’ll have access to, meaning no matter how geared you are, it now ALWAYS PAYS to return to previous raids and gather Raider’s Commendations.
The Badge System allows Raiders to gear up and strengthen their Heroes no matter what, where, or why they raid. So long as you’re killing bosses, you’ll be saving up to purchase the gear you DO need, even if you’re in a raid, or at a boss, that you DON’T need.
Romus can be found right now in game on Legacy Realms, so plan out what gear you’re shooting for, Heroes--it’s now well within your grasp.
