Heroes!

Season 8 Chapter 2 is right around the corner, and it’s bringing with it some of the most incredible foundational enhancements that Ascension has ever seen. In preparation for it, a handful of essential updates arrive on Ascension. These set the stage for Chapter 2, and are a small taste of what’s to come. They also build on previous and upcoming improvements to the game, ensuring that you can play how you want:

• Heirlooms Arrive

  • Range from 400 to 1200 Tokens
• Silas Darkmoon now offers all Skill Cards
• Open World Quest Mark of Ascension Buff

Horizontal Gear Progression

Currently, it’s difficult to try new builds on Ascension because you need full sets of unique gear and RE’s for any new archetype you want to play. Your gear can be so specific to what spec you’re currently playing, and you invest so much time into getting it, that it could be punishing or even impossible to try and do something else.

Until now!

Horizontal Progression allows Heroes to unlock Tier Slots: by getting a tier piece and equipping it–for example, by equipping a Tier 1 Chest Piece, you’ll unlock a vendor in which you can buy other pieces of that tier slot for gold. This functions for both Raid and Arena sets, transforming collecting tier pieces into meta progression for every build you want to play. 

Horizontal Progression gives you more control over what you play and when, while making sure that getting a new tier piece for one spec means you just got a new tier piece for all specs.

Note: You will not see the “Tier Tokens” section of the gossip menu unless you have unlocked a Tier Slot!

Horizontal Gear Progression sets the stage for Season 8 Chapter 2 by ensuring you can gear up and play multiple different builds at the same level. With the next chapter a huge foundational change to how multiclassing works will open up hundreds of new cross-class combinations to play. This change prepares for that upgrade, ensuring that you'll have the gear to play any crazy new build you want to play.

Heirloom Items

Heirloom items arrive on Ascension! These powerful pieces of gear scale with your level, making sure that Heroes can focus more on playing the game, rather than micromanaging your equipment.

Heirloom items help ensure that you’ve always got a piece of relevant gear equipped, and remove the strain and necessity of keeping dozens of different sets for your prestige runs. With Heirlooms, you can grab an item once knowing it’ll grow with your character.

Heirlooms are unlocked with Tokens of Prestige, and shouldn’t take too long to get. They range from 400 to 1200 tokens, and are priced so you can get weapons first since they’re more quality of life and important for successful prestiges. You can find these Heirlooms from Chromie.

• 1H Weapons cost 600 Tokens
• 2H Weapons cost 1000 Tokens

Silas and Skill Cards

Replacing the rotating Skill Card Shop, Silas Darkmoon now offers every Normal to Epic Skill Card in the game for purchase. This gives Heroes a guaranteed way to use their Darkmoon Tickets to get exactly what they want, ensuring that your next prestige will be a good one.

Open World Mark Buffs

To continue supporting different methods of prestige, and ensuring that Heroes can get equivalent Marks of Ascension no matter how they prefer to level, Open World Quests receive a buff to the Marks they award.

• Before: Quests Awarded 10 Marks, increasing by 10 every 10 levels
• Now: Quests Award 25 Marks, increasing by 10 every 10 levels

This ensures that Heroes who prefer to Prestige in the Open World can earn plenty of Marks of Ascension on their journey, opening up alternate ways to prestige and making sure you can play how you want.
