What's Next for Ascension
Heroes!
Season 7 was Ascension’s greatest season to date: from its beginnings in 2021, and through both League 3 and Chapter 2, Season 7 rocketed Ascension to new heights. Hundreds of thousands of Heroes, updates that improved the game forever, and essential new tools that shaped the foundation of Classless WoW alldebuted in Season 7. Now, it’s time to wind it down–to prepare for the future of Ascension.
The next chapter is about to be unleashed…
Like all Seasons on Ascension, the End of Season Merge transfers all characters from the Seasonal Realm to Ascension’s Core Realm Area 52: complete with all the treasures, loot, and gear you’ve obtained during the season!
With the merge, everyone can look forward to meeting new allies, making new friends, and engaging in epic encounters after the merge on the 11th of October, 2022. During this time, expect Area 52 to be down for at least 10 hours. PTR realms will still be open. Afterwards, you can dive into a booming Area 52 to meet new friends!
Here’s what you can expect
- Al’ar, the Season 7 Realm, is merging into Area 52
- All Heroes will be on Area 52 after the merge
- Everything, from bags to banks to professions, stays with you
- Your Vanity Collection will sync to Area 52
- If any of your characters are missing, they are deactivated because you exceed the limit of 10 active characters, you can activate and deactivate characters on the website.
- Draft Heroes will transform into Free Pick Heroes
- All heroes on Area 52 will enter Free Pick Mode
- Merge will happen on the 11th of October
The conclusion of Season 7, and the coming merge, set the stage for the beginning of the next evolution of Ascension. Something big is in the works–the biggest updates in Ascension’s history–and bringing the community together is the first step of that process. Area 52 is currently Ascension’s biggest realm, with more Heroes than even Al’ar at current–look forward to joining thousands of other Heroes to tackle a brand new raid!

Content coming to Area 52 after the Merge
The Merge brings with it brand new abilities to Area 52. These spells will arrive shortly after realms are back online after the maintenance, and will unlock new ways to customize your Free Pick Hero. Here’s what you can expect:

- What is the End of Season Merge?
- When a Season ends, all characters merge into Area 52: Ascension’s core realm
- What game mode is Area 52?
- Area 52 is Ascension’s Core Free Pick Realm
- Will I keep my character?
- Yes, all characters you have on the Seasonal Realm will transfer over to Area 52
- If you end up with more than 10 characters, you can activate or deactivate the ones you want on the Ascension Website, right from the control panel
- If you are missing a character, check the website! It’s probably just deactivated, and you probably didn’t lose it.
- Do I keep all my items?
- Absolutely! They’ll all come with you
- Do I keep my Professions, Bank Tabs, and Items in my Bank?
- Yeah!
- Do I keep Items in my Mail Box?
- Also yes
- Will my Vanity Collection come with me into Area 52?
- Yes! All items in your Vanity Collection will merge into any existing collection you have on Area 52–it’s all coming with you!
- Will my Vanity items go to the next Seasona?
- In the past, every season was a completely fresh start. In the next season, the goal is to have a sync item available in the higher tier Season 8 Bundles
- Will my Skillcards stay in my Vanity Collection on the new season?
- Skillcards do not come to new seasons.
- Will I keep my Draft Build?
- Draft Heroes will have their builds reset as they enter Free Pick
- Once you log in, you’ll be able to create your own Free Pick Build!
- If you don’t want to create your own build, you can use the Hero Architect to browse pre-built builds
- Will I keep my character when the next Season comes out?
- All Ascension Seasons are fresh start realms, allowing Heroes both old and new to begin the game together from the same starting point. Older seasonal Heroes will remain on Area 52!
- Is Area 52 populated?
- Yes, it’s currently Ascension’s biggest realm, with more Heroes online than Al’ar’s current population
- Why are my characters missing?
- If you exceed 10 characters on a realm, your additional characters will be deactivated. You can reactivate them on the website!
- What happens if my realm-wide bank is full?
- Items from your realm-wide bank will be mailed to you!
- Can you do Draft Mode on Area 52?
- Yes! Draft is available as a Challenge mode on Stony Tark.
- When is Season 8 coming?
- Season 8's announcement will be posted as a countdown on the site in the near future
