TBC Raid Trials levels 1-3 are now available on Area 52 for ALL TBC raids!
Do you crave the toughest PvE challenges on Azeroth? Does the thrill of savage boss encounters and deadlier raids get your blood pumping? You’re in luck:
What are Raid Trials?
Raid Trials allow you to increase the difficulty of your raid beyond normal limits. This increases the health and damage of all creatures and bosses in the raid, and additionally reduces your healing. This makes raids much tougher to complete, even with more powerful gear from later tiers. But if you can overcome them, you’ll achieve rare cosmetic rewards that only the mightiest raiders will ever see.
Raid Trials emphasize mastery of mechanics from the fights you know and love. The difficulty will be congruent between trial levels regardless of the raid you're in. This means damage and health from bosses in Raid Trial level 1 in Karazhan will be comparable to that in Black Temple. This breathes new-life back into older Raids, as the mechanics will once again be challenging even with gear that far surpasses what is initially available within that tier.
Raid Trials progress linearly: you’ll need to complete level 1 before unlocking level 2, and so on. However, only one member of your team needs to have the level unlocked–so as long as one person in your party has completed Karazhan on level 5, your entire group can attempt level 6.
Additionally, you can progress through Raid Trials as you please: you’re not limited by a weekly reset, and you can attempt to push as far as you like. You can reset your Ascended Lockout as much as you want to attempt harder difficulties. You won’t get repeat boss loot on the additional lockouts though.
How do I Activate Raid Trials?
As the highest tier of difficulty, Raid Trials can only be accessed in Ascended raids. To activate them, enter the Raid you want to challenge and open the Trial UI. From there, you can set the difficulty and earn bonus rewards for your raid team. You must be the raid leader to activate Raid Trials.
Additionally, You must kill all the bosses in that instance to collect the rewards, you cannot kill Moroes with 1 group and Midnight with group 2. Your team needs to complete the instance together to get rewards.
Each Raid has unique cosmetic rewards as well as its own Leaderboard: this means you can show off your prowess by claiming the #1 spot across multiple raids.
Gather your strongest allies if you hope to have a shot at completing them.
Rewards
Raid Trials offer tons of rewards both cosmetic and practical.
First, Raid Trials offer Raid Trial Caches: when you complete a Raid Trail level for the first time, you’ll get a chest of relevant Ascended gear.
Second, finishing a Raid Trial awards you with a number of Triumphant Raider’s Tokens equal to the level you completed: you’ll get 1 token for completing a level 1 Raid Trial, 5 for completing a level 5 trial, 10 for a level 10, etc. These tokens can be exchanged at the Raid Trial Vendor for exclusive cosmetic rewards.
Third, each raid has its own unique cosmetic rewards:
- Unique Set
- Unique Weapon
- Unique Achievement for each raid and level
- Realm Firsts for them as well!
The Raid Trial vendor also has multiple unique mounts, pets, and more.
