Project Origin
Originally started by Liquidos, Conquest of Azeroth had a vision of remaking the titular world with brand new ways to explore and a new community to foster. Azeroth has always been bigger than the bits we’ve been able to see, and the goal of CoA is to allow heroes access to hidden parts of the lore and mythos to challenge familiar foes in new ways. All the while, the game seeks to restore wonder and excitement to Azeroth, making it feel like you're stepping into it for the first time.
Since joining our community, Liquidos has worked alongside top developers to further the project. CoA has its own dedicated team leveraging the best practices, codebase, tools, and experience that Ascension has gathered over the years. It’s development exists alongside Classless WoW, and the two exchange Classic+ content such as new dungeons, bosses, mechanics, etc.

Class Mechanic - Deathfire: Knights of Xoroth build up Deathfire in combat using abilities. Like combo points, these can be unleashed for apocalyptic finishing moves to bring enemies to their end.
Specializations
War: Many Knights of Xoroth serve as heralds of apocalyptic War, flaying and bleeding enemies until they’re ripe for the kill. A physical damage dealer, War Knights of Xoroth are savage butchers that flay corpses for health regen and utilize butcher hooks and chains to drag foes close.
Hellfire: Hellfire Knights of Xoroth walk the line between savage hell knight and flaming occultist, specializing in big bursts and strong AoE damage. These hybrid Knights are melee fighters that prioritize caster gear to maximize the damage of their hellfire. Unleash demonic fire magic through your blade, sear through foes, and even transform into a blazing demon: all to ensure your enemy’s end.
Defiance: Raise your flaming bulwark and halt enemies in their tracks: Defiance Knights of Xoroth are warrior warlocks that use Hellgates to unleash hoards of flaming demons. Oppose order and usher pure chaos into Azeroth: pull imps and abyssal infernals from the firelands to ravage all in your path. This flaming sword and board tank is an unstoppable juggernaut, and your enemies will know war.
TEMPLAR
The Templar is a devout martial artist and master of multiple styles of combat. With a focus on combos and using skills in just the right order, the Templar is an agile skirmisher that chains together combos before unleashing powerful Combo Breaker finishing moves. Weave together vicious strikes with a blade, staff, or your fists, and bring balance to the world of Azeroth.
- Role: Tank, DPS
- Primary Stat: Agility
- Armor: Mail
Class Mechanic: Combo - Templars are agile fighters that specialize in comboing their abilities. Weave together Openers and Followups to unleash wild Combat Moves, finishing foes with a Combo Breaker!
Specializations
Crusader: Crusader Templars are graceful fighters dedicated to the study of the Holy Light. Weave in and out of your opponent’s range to sever their spirit, confuse the enemy with spiritual abdications, and return them to the light in a shining vortex of blades.
Martial:
Eliminate enemies in a flurry of swift strikes while utilizing powerful combos to unleash devastating effects on your enemies.
Discipline: Through rigorous monastic training, Discipline Templars steel both mind and body to absorb punishment and deal it right back. Wielding a traditional staff, Discipline Templars deflect blows and weave their strikes to maintain a stacking tank buff that mitigates harm.
RANGER
Rangers are the outlaws and farstriders of Azeroth: the scouts and brigands of the wilderness. At home forests and proficient with both melee weapons and a bow, these versatile survivalists are deadly in combat. Some live their lives as cutthroats, ambushing prey and stealing what they need to survive. Others are wandering huntsman who find company beside their War Falcons. Be wary should you encounter a Ranger alone, and count yourself lucky to find one as an ally.
- Role: DPS, Support
- Primary Stat: Agility
- Armor: Leather
Specializations
Archery: Become a dedicated archer and wreak chaos from afar, peppering foes with a hail of arrows. Archery Rangers are long-ranged skirmishers that can make use of Quiver abilities to modify their damage. With excellent mobility to keep the enemy off its heels, Archers are a deadly sight throughout Azeroth.
Brigand: Living on the boundaries of civilization, ambushing the rich and taking what they want by force, Brigand Rangers assault targets with brutal melee attacks. These underhanded bandits have no qualms using dirty tricks to take down foes quickly. Armed with poisons that cripple and debilitate foes, Brigands are deadly fighters that always come out on top.
Farstrider: At home in the wilds and at peace with animals, Farstrider Rangers can call War Falcons to battle and let loose roaring horns to support allies. Farstrider Rangers are a support class, using powerful Horns to buff allies.
Conquest of Azeroth Features
Conquest of Azeroth has many of the same Ascension systems and features that Classless WoW players enjoy: from the Hybrid Risk System to Mythic+ Dungeons, multiple Raid difficulties, and itemization changes, Heroes can look forward to many of their favorite Ascension features also being available in Conquest of Azeroth!
Hybrid Risk System
Conquest of Azeroth features the entire Hybrid Risk System so that Heroes of all playstyles can forge a community and friendships with all players on a single realm. Whether you’re a World PvP master, or prefer just exploring Azeroth, this feature ensures that everyone gets the playstyle they want without dividing the realm: anyone can pair up when they want, if they want, with everyone.
Hybrid Risk System Features
Just like on Ascension, Heroes will be prompted to select one of the following game modes:
- PvE Mode:
- A complete PvE mode, existing in the same phase as PvP mode. Heroes who select this option are completely untargetable for PvP, allowing them to play exactly like they were on a PvE realm while still enjoying the benefits of grouping, dungeons, raids, and battlegrounds with PvP players. While in the open world, you cannot be attacked unless you start something first: exactly like normal PvE mode.
- PvP Mode:
- A full PvP experience. Seek out enemies in the open world and take them down to prove your skill and forge your legacy. PvP mode functions just like a PvP server, with the bonus of existing within the same Open World Phase as PvE mode. This means you can find, group, quest, and trade with other Heroes in PvE. This helps everyone group up for quests, dungeons, and raids, without separating the realm.
- High Risk PvP:
- A separate phase and the ultimate PvP experience: slaying a Hero in High Risk lets you loot some of their items. When taking down another player in High Risk combat, they’ll drop a chest containing a few pieces of both equipped and inventory items. Additionally, while you’re out and about in the open world you’re considered a Treasure Hunter. This powerful buff lets you find Bloodforged versions of Dungeon and Raid gear off of monsters in the open world, meaning you can gear up for PvP entirely by engaging with the Open World. While leveling in High Risk, you can stumble on rare dungeon items without ever having to step inside their original dungeon. Best of all, it’s all non-soulbound, so you can buy, trade, and exchange this powerful gear however you like.
- Additionally, High Risk has a variety of features that Heroes can take advantage of, including rare materials, craftable items, and ways to get spoils.
